John Statz returns to Kavarna Coffeehouse and this time he is bringing Madison's Count This Penny for an evening of great song craft.
No Depression Magazine said this of John's most recent album on Yer Bird Records, "in a genre that is saturated with similar sounds and styles, Old Fashioned demonstrates that John Statz can stand beside the best and above the rest with his songwriting alone."
Indeed. You can read all about him at:
Or, check him out on Daytrotter, if you have a subscription (and if you don't, it really is the best $48 you'll spend all year):
Muzzle of Bees (a prominent music blog) has this to say about Count This Penny, "If you like the Everybodyfields, the Civil Wars, or some old school Gram and Emmylou, you will dig Count This Penny."
And it's true. Because I do dig all of these. Though I did have to look up Everybodyfields to make sure. You can get the full picture on Count This Penny here:
Or, here they are performing with Phox:
Don't miss out. The tickets at the door (assuming that it doesn't sell out) are $8. But, if you buy them in advance on the internet, they cost only $6. Naturally, that's for general admission.
